Everything I've Used HOCl Hypochlorous ACID Spray and Serum for, so Far (Newsletter No. 33)

I first heard about HOCl (Hypochlorous acid) from a That’s Chic video in 2019. Lumion Miracle Mist, to be specific. She mentioned it in her video, Two Years of Empties. Naturally occuring substance in white blood cells? 5 star reviews? Color me piqued (or a sucker).

I originally bought it solely for my sensitive skin that’s susceptible to mild forms of eczema, rosacea, acne—a little bit of everything red. It worked pretty well for that. Lo and behold, 2020 started and so did Covid-19. Apparently HOCl was also a proven disinfectant yet still gentle enough for skin. Another use.

I discovered that, like Windex, HOCl can solve most problems when used responsibly. I use it in two forms, spray, and serum.

THINGS I’VE DONE WITH Hypochlorous HOCl spray
1. Spray it on random rashes. Do you ever get random rashes, like a patch of itchy skin with no specific explanation, but maybe a harsh soap, scratchy sweater, trapped sweat, etc. Anyways, a couple sprays, forget about it and it’s gone. (The serum works too)
2. Bug bites. (The serum works too)
3. Cooking burns. I literally saw a burn that I got from a hot oil splatter fade rapidly over a couple days using this.
4. Cuts, wounds, scabs.
5. Spray HOCl “down there” if you feel an UTI coming on or already have one. Spray HOCl down there to feel extra clean during your menstrual cycle.
6. Ear aches (I’d consult a doctor before you listen to me though)
7. To clean and disinfect new and old piercings
8. Spray it up the nose and around the mouth before putting on your mask to go outside and after coming back home, in the hopes that it keeps the germs out of your respiratory system.
9. Spray it on itchy scalp
9. Surface cleaner around the house.

THINGS I’VE DONE WITH HOCl Hypochlorous Serum
1. Spot treated pimples and acne.
2. Applied it on maskne irritation. Depending on your skin, you might need to apply moisturizer right after to avoid drying out your skin.
2. Rubbed on bacne and buttne. (body acne)
3. Rosacea patches. Depending on your skin, you might need to put on moisturizer right after.
4. Eczema almost flare ups. If you have eczema, you know that when you scratch your skin inadvertently sometimes it’s not just a regular scratch, but that you activated the “angry bumpies” underneath. Apply some serum on it and it usually keeps the eczema away. This is much less successful for me once it’s an actual eczema rash.

And there you have it, all of the ways I’ve found to use HOCl so far.
The CATCH: Because of the salt content of these products and because of my skin, I think my facial moisture barrier can get compromised really easily. Therefore. during my menstrual period or pre-menstrual period, I use it more sparingly on my face (less often, as spot treatment only) or make sure to slap on moisturizer right aver to avoid over-drying my skin.

I do have a code: KRISTY15, if you decide to get it at Lumionlife.com (affiliate link). Let me know if it works. Other brands I’ve tried are Briotech and Curativa Bay.

Be well!
