“Pearl Necklaces” (2010-2011)
“The height of sophistication is simplicity.”
― Clare Boothe Luce
A delicate swoop of beading detail mimics the way a classic strand of pearls falls across the collarbone. “Pearl Necklaces” brings that pleasing curve to other body parts. Sculptural yet delicate, a new classic you will cherish for years to come. I like running my finger across the 'pearls,' as a soothing, tactile, fidget.
Inspired by a couple of my favorite women wearing a strand of tiny pearls, the fictional Peggy Olson from Mad Men, the great groundbreaking Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, and Melissa McCarthy’s character in Bridesmaids. Women who have faced obstacles and prejudice, women who are angry and imperfect yet strong and kind and determined.
Inspired by the chubby pearl necklaces worn by famous paintings such as 'Maria Trip' by Rembrandt and 'Woman with a Pearl Earring' by Vermeer.
It looks really good on your upper arm.
