My logo is inspired by my Chinese name. It’s kind of a silly name that my parents tried to make work, a homophone of my nickname, little cloth, for the blanket I used to be sorely attached to… and never fully got over when it was taken away from me because it was decided I was too old for it. And from then on out, I kept trying to recapture that safety and comfort by making my own treasures. The small inner dramas of suburban childhood.
My name is something I did not choose but did inherit. Same with my English and legal name, Kristy Lin. I don’t feel particularly attached to them, but can’t think of anything better. They’re mine nevertheless. And isn’t that what it is always, a combination of what we’ve been given and what we decide to make of it.
KRISTY LIN is silliness, messiness, and thoughtfulness. I like making ugly and ignored things beautiful.

Each piece we send out is handmade with care and deliberation. We like that you can tell that it’s been made by humans, not automation.
