Ear Rings, Ear Earrings, anD Other Body Parts (2010)
“We have two ears and one tongue so that we would listen more and talk less." --Diogenes
Came up with this design in 2010, sitting in history class staring at the professor's ears. Ear...Ring.. Ear…Earrings. I hope you appreciate my dad joke-turned-sweet jewelry piece ;).
In Chinese culture the etymology for the word 'intelligent' is literally, "focused listening."
Inspire yourself to pause more and observe the wisdom of others, for that is the wisest action of all.

EYES, EARS, MOUTH & NOSE STACK RING SET 2009-2010
“When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
― Fred Rogers
“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
― Albert Einstein
Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose/Head, shoulders knees and toes, knees and toes. Do you know that children's song?
Closed eyes, detailed ears that cup the sides of your fingers, strong nose and full lips come together to create a calm androgynous face. It's not quite sleeping, rather meditating. Feeling stressed in our modern civilization with its discontents? Gaze upon this little face during the day and it'll remind you how easy it could all be. Finely made, the craftsmanship of the ring is at once delicate and sculptural. Each feature of the face rests on a separate rounded band. The stackable idea illustrates my fascination of with childhood nostalgia and surreality--combining my memories of Mr. Potato Head and mix and match books with a Salvador Dali aesthetic.
A perfect gift for the art gallery and museum peruser.
Hand carved in wax then cast in sterling silver.
