It’s Absurd (2011, 2018)
I don’t have anything articulate to say, it’s just all the ridiculous juxtapositions and paradoxes inspired by imagery from my heritage, favorite music, literature, etc.
A Budai with golden yellow skin and blue diamond eyes
“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation
Golden Skin, Sparkling Blue Eyes.
Cognitive Dissonance.
Cheekily (pun intended---have you seen those cheeks?) Irreverent, this piece is a highly detailed yellow gold budai face with real blue diamond eyes--a east meets west fusion that's slightly different from asian chicken salad from McDonald's and arguably more delicious.
The face was meticulously carved in wax then cast and polished in gold.
Often mistaken for Gautama Buddha, the Chinese Budai is a folklore deity. He is considered the future incarnation of Buddha. Because of his cheery disposition, his nickname is Laughing Buddha. Rub his nose for good luck, prosperity, and happiness whenever you need a little extra pop.
Recommended as a statement ring for average to smaller hands and pinky ring for larger hands.
