Small Production Design Details I Noticed in Succession (Newsletter No. 52)

-Fancy bottled water during board meetings: Fiji, Essentia, Voss

Except in season 2 episode 4: Tom and Greg are in the lesser panic room and the hearing, they had Niagara

-Shiv wears a lot of delicate artsy jewelry that looks like it’s from San Francisco, Seattle , Williamsburg

-Logan speaks in an American accent but his Scottish accent comes out when he’s angry which is a nice touch because it matches his backstory of having been born in Scotland and moving to the U.S. at a young age.

-Food is not a focus in Succession, unlike other shows and movies (like whatever Brad Pitt is in), but booze is. The food looks cold and unappetizing when there are zoom ins— shrimp cocktail dumped by the tray-full into black garbage bags, pizza looks cold, Greg’s Chinatown noodle dinner with his grandfather looks like worms, Greg’s fancy ass dinner with Tom looks like they deep fried
-Kendall’s coke habit—they don’t spell out every time he does a line, the show just shows him looking awful and coming back from the bathroom

-Marcia wears a lot of dark blue/navy—when she’s by Logan’s side her jewelry is royal, when she comes back after leaving him her jewelry is art gallery

-Everyone has someone spying on them and for them and not only do they not explain who the spies are, the spied on aren’t remotely curious how, only annoyed.
