Winter is the Best Time to Eat Ice Cream
Made possible by modern heating.
My favorite flavors, those chocolatey, vanilla-y, caramel-y ones, are heavy flavors. Make me thirsty. Even sorbets make me thirsty. This is not what I want in the heat of summer.
But in winter, that is when I crave something rich. Sometimes I want hot chocolate, but sometimes I want the thick creamy slightly hardier texture of ice cream. Cake and pie for when I want something crumbly and flaky, but what if I want something wet?
The cooling nature of ice cream is simply a necessary side effect for textural purposes. I mean, how often have you had warm chocolate pudding*, or warm chocolate mousse? They simply do not exist in hot temperatures on account of chemistry!
*English style puddings and bread puddings don’t count.

But in the winter, that is when you crave something rich. Sometimes/Oftentimes you want hot chocolate, but somethings you want the thick creamy slightly hardier texture of ice cream. The cooling nature is simply a byproduct, a necessary side effect for textural purposes. I mean, how often have you even had hot chocolate pudding, or hot chocolate mousse? They simply do not exist in hot temperatures on account of chemistry!
