Eating Al Fresco (Newsletter No. 45)

A second year of spring/summer in a panorama and I have further discovered that dining indoors is far inferior to dining outdoors. Extremely subpar!

I would rather:

  1. Cook with a stick over an open fire

  2. Eat from a domesticated open fire (i.e., suburban backyards)

  3. Even a parking lot is better

  4. In parks and beaches ofc

  5. Roofs

  6. Farms

I always knew I liked eating outside (preferably on the ground?) but it took a safety hazard to realize that no, really, even if I had a choice, I would prefer to eat in the open air.

What about you, what would you do?

Also I just realized, by way of this interview between Bret Weinstein, Heather Heying, and Joe Rogan, that room temperature thermostats are meant to mimic year round spring--20–22 °C (68–72 °F). Mind-blowing! Was this obvious to you? Spring, the season of birth and bloom and renewal, this is the season we seek to manufacture in our caves. Does that mean spring is the best season?

By the way, what do you think of Joe Rogan? Insufferable and/or dangerous? Or a layperson proxy that’s interested in anything and everything stupid or deep that anyone sometimes agrees or disagrees with.

🎶 Piece of the Day 🎶

The “Foot Massage” gua sha. Because, let’s be barefoot in dirt sand and grass as much as we can. It’s a cute chubby little tchotchke, but it’s also a gua sha massage tool. Dig the heel into acupressure points, or rub the ridge of toes down your neck for lymphatic drainage. Hope it tickles your fancy!

And a reminder that my Summer Ain’t Over Sale is still going on! It ends September 22nd, 2021.

That’s it for today! Short, sweet, and good to eat (just like cute little feet!). Here’s to eating outside, regardless of season.

Sincerely,
Kristy

Ps. Found this song recently via Alexandros Marinos. In his opinion it sums up the temperature of the times rn. Related question: are we repeating the 70s rn?
